Introduction

Hello, my name is Bryan Pinero, and I am a student who is currently taking the Cambridge-offered course AICE Media Studies Level AS. I am intrigued to take this course because I am someone who has always been connected with media as a whole, so I am looking forward to seeing the dynamics and intricacies within it. I recognize how important media is, as it has the power to entertain us and enlighten us with information, both good and bad about topics and themes concerning the current environment of our world.

For Component 1 of this course, I made the decision to do the print magazine option over the movie intro. The main reason for this decision is because of my experience in creating magazines from when I took a course on the Adobe program, InDesign last year. As indicated, this experience and practice have allowed me to choose the magazine option as the more comfortable option to work with. For this project, I will be using the programs of Adobe InDesign and Canva to develop my project, whether it is using one over the other or both, those programs are in my artillery for what to use.

Now, as for what the focus of my magazine will be. After some thought, I decided that my magazine would focus on film. This is because I have always loved film all my life so I find that basing the component on the topic will create a very satisfying journey for me with this project. For most of my life, since I was 6, maybe 7, I have gone countless times to the movie theater to see the latest movies that have come out or are available to watch. This experience has for years been very satisfying to do for years now. My first visit to the movie theater set up the foundation for me to love watching movies in general, whether it's at home, or at the theater, it does not matter. More recently as I have progressed into adolescence, I have been watching movies with a more critical and analytic view, which adds a sense of intrigue for me personally, as you see beyond the surface level of what a film is presenting. To be able to translate my love for movies into this project will be very pleasing and valuable, so I am certainly looking forward to it.

     Another important step that was necessary to create the magazine was picking out the fonts. Out of all the different text sections or text boxes, the font for the title of the magazine was by far one of the most important, if not the most important for me to focus on and really the pick one that I both like and feel suits the magazine as the title is one of the first components that grabs the eye when looking at a magazine.     For the title, I already had a vision of how I wanted it to look or at least, a foundation of the essentials for the title font. I felt that the title font should look modern, good while capitalized, and devoid of looking formal, such as cursive fonts or fonts with serifs. Every year, moviegoers are expecting and excited for many new and interesting films to keep them entertained. With the new year, we have a new lineup of films set to release, varying from the musical comedy “Mean Girls” to the science fiction monster film “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.” With all this in mind, here are some of 2024’s most anticipated films.
