Finalizing the Color Palette (Part 2)
After much thought, this is the color palette I chose to base my print magazine on along with small additions of white and grey. I chose this palette because I feel it holds the appropriate colors that resonate with the topic of movies and/or movie theaters, while also contributing to making a visually pleasing magazine to look at.
In my mind, I've always thought that the base colors when making something movies or movie theater-related were black and red. This palette has not only one but two shades of red and it includes black. However, although I associate those two colors as the fundamental colors for film or movie theaters, I felt like there needed to be other colors that juxtaposed yet complimented the darkness of red and black. I feel like the magazine would look too bland if its colors were solely just black and red, even if they were different shades of black and red. So I chose this palette with shades of white or beige, as it contrasts the red and black and the lightness of those colors can make the magazine look more visually pleasing.
Although it is not seen, I added white and grey to this palette so I can have additional colors to work with. This was in case I felt these shades of white were too dark for white in certain parts of the magazine or if black was too dark for certain parts and grey could be a better alternative.
